Based in Abu Dhabi, ''Masdar'' is one of the world’s fastest-growing renewable energy companies and a pioneer in advancing the clean energy sector since 2006. Masdar is a key enabler of the UAE’s vision as a global leader in sustainability and climate action, supporting the UAE Consensus and the legacy of COP28

''Masdar'' develops utility-scale power plants, community grid projects, energy storage, efficiency-focused systems, and technology demonstration projects

''MASDAR'' is active in solar, wind, waste-to-energy, geothermal, energy storage, and green hydrogen projects across the world with a clean energy capacity of 31.5 gigawatts, equivalent to avoiding 14 million tons of carbon dioxide per year.

''MASDAR'' is interested in developing large-scale green hydrogen projects to drive global decarbonization ambitions.

A consortium led by Masdar was awarded the 1,100MW Al Henakiyah project, after a successful tender process by SPPC.The project entails developing, financing, constructing, and operating of the 1,100MWac PV plant, to be located in the Al Henakiyah region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The plant is expected to start commercial operation in 2026.

A consortium consisting of Masdar, EDF Renewables and Nesma announced in 2019 that it had won the tender for the Dumat Al Jandal wind farm in Saudi Arabia. With an installed capacity of 400 megawatts (MW), it will be Saudi Arabia’s first wind farm and the largest in the Middle East.

The project will displace approximately one million tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.

The wind farm will benefit from a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Saudi Power Procurement Company, a subsidiary of SEC (Saudi Electricity Company), the Saudi power generation and distribution company.

The wind farm is located 900 kilometers north of Riyadh in the Al Jouf region of north-western Saudi Arabia. The project is 51 per cent owned by EDF Renewables and 49 per cent by Masdar.
